Pin & Timber Social Club: Developing a Local Recreation and Social Venue
Pin & Timber Social Club is a proposed recreation and social venue being developed for the Hollister area. The concept brings together indoor golf simulation, supervised axe throwing, digital darts, and space for groups to gather.
Founded by Luis Alvarez III, the project is moving through concept development, market validation, and feasibility planning. Its central challenge is turning an appealing mix of activities into a venue that fits local demand, property conditions, and the practical requirements of daily operation.
Concept inception
The original idea centered on a place where recreation and social gathering could share the same setting. Golf simulation and axe throwing offered two distinct activities around which to build that experience.
As the concept developed, digital darts and lounge space broadened its potential use. The proposed venue could accommodate an activity-focused visit while also giving groups room to spend time together before and after playing.
The intended audience includes friends, families, workplace groups, and private-event organizers. The planning question is how those different visits translate into space needs, staffing, scheduling, and sustainable demand.
Brand development
Pin & Timber connects the two main activities through its name. “Pin” references golf, while “Timber” connects to axe throwing. “Social Club” expresses the broader gathering-place concept.
The brand has developed alongside the business plan through a dedicated website, social channels, visual concepts, and interest forms. These materials give potential guests and partners a clearer way to understand the proposal and follow its progress.
Brand development also helps test the concept. Describing the experience clearly makes it easier to gather useful feedback about which activities, events, and membership ideas attract interest.

Defining the venue experience
The current planning model includes two premium golf simulator bays, four supervised axe lanes, digital dart boards, and shared lounge and event space. An allowance for a possible third golf bay is part of the longer-term layout thinking.
These elements remain subject to the property, approvals, budget, and operating plan. The experience depends on more than equipment placement: circulation, spectator areas, supervision, accessibility, sound, and group flow all influence the design.
Food and beverage planning remains limited in scope. A full kitchen is outside the current launch concept, while beer and wine remain a potential later component subject to the required approvals.
The venue is intended to complement the area’s outdoor golf options and provide another setting for recreation and group events.
Progress to date
The project has established a public-facing brand and website, with functioning forms for founding interest and corporate or community inquiries. Those channels provide a way to collect and organize expressions of interest.
Property screening and preliminary planning inquiries have also begun. The work has highlighted how strongly a location’s usable layout, ceiling clearance, approval requirements, and buildout burden can affect feasibility.
A permanent location has not been secured, and an opening date has not been established. Financing and property qualification remain important dependencies in moving the venue toward implementation.
Exploring mobile and partner-hosted formats
Alongside the permanent venue, Pin & Timber is evaluating smaller ways to introduce the brand and test the experience.
One path is a modular axe-throwing setup that could support events or an installation within an existing venue. Mobile golf is another concept under evaluation. A host partnership could provide a setting for testing demand, operating procedures, and group bookings.
These formats require their own review of equipment, transport, setup, staffing, insurance, and applicable requirements. They are being explored as practical business options and potential sources of learning for the wider project.

Current priorities
The immediate priority is market validation: building a qualified interest list, developing event inquiries, and understanding which experiences people are most likely to book.
That work needs to inform the financial and operating assumptions. Interest in the brand is useful, but the project also needs evidence about pricing, visit frequency, group demand, and the cost of delivering each activity.
Property evaluation, equipment quotations, insurance discussions, and partnership exploration will continue alongside that validation. The next major milestone is a workable combination of demand, location or host arrangement, startup funding, and operating costs.
Follow the project
Future updates will document concept refinements, validation efforts, property and partnership progress, and the decisions that shape the next stage of development.
